The McLemore Resort identified an opportunity to serve practice and training needs of seasonal Members and guests, as well as during the “shoulder season” when weather limits play on the 18-hole Highlands Course. The McLemore Golf Training Center is a structure located beside the Highland Course driving range and the McLemore Golf Village. The indoor/outdoor structure will include five driving range bays, Callaway Toptracer advanced ball tracking technology, a bar and grille, and retail store.

CHALLENGES

  1. The McLemore Club was not realizing revenue due to limitations placed on course play due to inclement weather, particularly in the “shoulder season.”

  2. The developer identified the previous golf shop, which was located on the Highlands Course driving range, was not being utilized, and could be redesigned to serve as a golf training center.

  3. Construction or structures could interfere with the Member and guest practice experience, resulting in less than positive reviews.

SOLUTIONS

  1. The developer’s architectural partners devised a strategy that extended the existing previous golf shop into a five-bay practice facility with a bar and grille and a retail footprint.

  2. The plan will result in maintaining golf revenue through the annual “shoulder season,” while serving practice needs of Members and guests throughout the year.
